Grenada
Yesterday Shirl and I broke down and finally visited the doctor on board the ship to get some antibiotics as our chest discomfort had gone into bronchitis. Today we are starting to feel a little better but elected to stay near the dock area.
The major conversation topic throughout the ship today has been about the robbery that occurred to some of the tourists when they toured a botanical garden in St. Lucia.

We did not go into further into town today but limited our time to a brief visit as the dock area was not that appealing. I had been on Grenada a few years ago and was surprised that I did not recognize the town from before. What was apparent was that most of the buildings had new metal roofs; I assume from last year’s hurricanes.
Grenada is located at the southernmost tip of the grand arch formed by the islands of the Lesser Antilles Grenadines. It is known as the “spice island’ which produces many quantities of cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and more.
Grenada is approximately 21 miles long and 12 miles at its widest with numerous mountains and beautiful beaches. Most buildings are made of brick or lava rock; because of several disastrous fires in the island’s history, wood is a forbidden building material here. Another interesting thing is that the daily ship news letter specifically stated that "wearing camouflage type clothing or accessories is an offense".
While it was Sunday and most stores were not open, this city was the least appealing that we have seen to date.
The tree to the right is located in the middle of the ship main lobby and is actually a live tree with the large pot suspended up approximately 5 decks above the main level.
I always enjoy looking at the electrical distribution systems when we are traveling. This one is actually not that bad.
This lady allowed me to take her picture showing off her spice stand. I did purchase some wonderful smelling nutmeg.
The view from our stateroom as we leave Grenada and head towards Aruba.
